LEADERSHIP

Elders

Thomas L Brame, Sr. (Pastor Tom)

Pastor

Some of you jokingly know me as “Principal” or “Superintendent” Brame.  I am the 2nd out of three boys of the late Richard and Frances Brame.    I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and that’s where I met my wife Shirley.  We have been married since 1992 and we have 2 sons, TJ and Jacob.  I accepted Jesus Christ right after the blessing of our first child in July 1995.  For years, I was an idle member just attending church on Sundays with my family.  We moved to New York in 2001, due to work, and joined a church that focused on teaching the bible.  During that time, I attended bible studies and really dug into the Word.  When we returned to Cincinnati in 2003, I was on fire for Christ and began my leadership roles in the church.  Such roles throughout the years included the following:
  •  Chairperson of Pastoral Search Committee
  • Trustee
  • Vice chair of Men’s Ministry
  • Male Chorus
  • Finance Committee
  • Children’s Church Teacher
  • Superintendent of Children’s Church
  • Teen Sunday school teacher
  • Vision Committee member
  • Secretary of Men’s Ministry
  • Search Committee member
  • Deacon
  • Director of Christian Education
  • Minister
  • Elder
  • Pastor
One of my life scriptures that has been very pivotal in my life is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight.”  God has given me the gift of leadership, but I’ve come to realize that’s not His purpose for me.  After years of running, last year I finally accepted my calling to preach and follow the path He has always had for me which is in ministry.  I know this call into eldership is from God, because there is no way, in my own strength, I can do this.  As an elder, my areas of focus will be Christian Education and overseeing all ministries.  I ask each of you to continue to pray for me and with me as we take this journey.  The scripture that I will be meditating on is Philippians 3:13-14, “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
As of August 29, 2021, I was honored and humbled to be ordained by God to shepherd PBC as Pastor.  I am looking forward in serving God's children as I walk out Proverbs 3:5-6.

Milton Winkfield

Elder, Deacon Chairman

I was born to the late Marvin and Joyce Winkfield.  I am the fifth born on six children.  I grew up in the community of Mt. Auburn, and graduated from Hughes High School in 1972.  I received my Bachelor's degree from Central State University, where i Majored in marketing with a minor in biology.  My career was in pharmaceutical sales, which I retired from after 26 years of service.  I married the love of my life, Dorothy, in 1977.  To this marriage was born four children; Michael, Christen, Morgan (deceased) and Sarah.  I am the proud grandfather of four; Ethan, Jude, Lilian and Joseph Milton.  I received Christ after being married and children, I joined Peace Baptist and became a deacon at the age of thirty four.  After accepting the calling of service, God has blessed me immensely in growing in His grace.  One of the gifts I believe I have is teaching His Word.  I think tho teach you have to first be teachable.  God ministers to me through teaching, I first have to apply the Word to myself before I can teach it to others.
The calling of eldership to the church is an honor.  In my own strength I am not worthy, but Philippians 4:13 tells me that I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.  I am looking forward to the growth, and the responsibility that this position calls for.  To serve God and His kingdom is what it is all about, with that being said I am looking forward to serving you.  The two main areas I will be servicing as an elder are Chairman of the Deacon Ministry and the benevolence committee.

Sharon Howell

I am a native of Cincinnati, Ohio.  I graduated from Hughes High School in 1979 where I studied secretarial science.  I was a member of the Big Reds Marching Band where I played the clarinet.  After graduation, I attended Cincinnati Technical College and graduated with an Associates's Degree in Legal.  After graduation, I began employment with Procter and Gamble, where I held several positions including; secretary, customer service accounts payable and customer service international representative.  At my time of retirement, I was a senior customer service representative that managed the accounts of various businesses such as Bed Bath and Beyond.  I retired from Procter and Gamble after 30 years of service.  I have been in Policy Support as an underwriter technician at Liberty Mutual Insurance for the past eight years.
I received Christ at an early age while attending Greater New Light Baptist Church under the late Rev. Fred L. Shuttesworth.  I served as a faithful choir member.  I move my membership to PBC in 2000.  Under this membership I truly began my Christian walk.  I am a devoted choir member, Chairman of the Trustee's ministry, works with the anniversary committee and help in the kitchen as needed.  I love people and my calling is truly hospitality.
I have been married to Dennis for 28 years and we ware blessed with a daughter, Shannon.  I am also blessed to be a mother to Denisha through this marriage and two grandchildren and son-in-law.
During this Christian walk, I have been called to be an Elder at PBC which I searched my heart for many months to see if this was my calling.  I love the Lord and knows this is an honor from God.  I continue to grow in the Lord and He is working on me each day to fulfill this calling.  One thing I know is to trust His Word and He will lead me where I need to go.

Devona Thomas

Elder, Treasurer

Hello, my name is Devona C. Thomas.  By now, I'm sure everyone here knows me.  Recently, I've been referred to as "Peace Baptist Budget Babe".  As a Cincinnati native, I've been a member here at PBC since 1991.  I married my high school sweetheart Min. Michael Thomas in June 2006 and we have three awesome sons together (Michael, Darius and Devin).  I have attended the University of Cincinnati (1995-1996 & 2009-2010), Cincinnati State (1998-2001) and Indiana Wesleyan University (2008-2010) majoring in Accounting and Finance.  Accounting is truly my passion.  I currently work for Lithko Contracting as a Payroll Accountant.  I also serve as a mobile notary public (notary on the go).  My hobbies include: shopping, spending time with family and friends, attending my kids sporting/school events, shopping, accounting/budgeting work, traveling, shopping, listening to music and finally shopping.  I believe in living life to the fullest and i bring "love, joy and laughter" wherever I go.  I have formed tons of "special" relationships while here at PBC, and I truly consider us a family.
In 2008, I accepted my first assignment here at PBC and I've never looked back.  Some of my roles while here at PBC include:
  • Youth Sunday school teacher
  • Finance Committee
  • Trustee
  • First Touch Committee
  • Assistant teacher - Teens ministry
  • Treasurer
  • Deaconess
  • Elder
My life scripture is Psalms 121:15,  "The Lord is thy keeper; the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand."  In everything I do, I often remind myself that it is "only" the Lord that keeps me in my coming and going.  God has truly blessed me and I have vowed to serve him in whatever why He sees fit.
As an Elder, I will be focusing on the financial growth of the kingdom. I really believe that even with a church this size, we can increase financial growth by using God's money wisely.

Lorenzo Tony Bates

Elder

I am a devoted husband to Maria Bates and a proud father to Terrin and Landen Bates.  I have been affiliated with PBC for over 40 years.  I have served many roles over the years including Children's church, Sunday school, vacation Bible school, chairman of the Trustee ministry and men's ministry.  My favorite part is working with the youth; I take great pleasure in that.
My most important relationship outside church is with my family.  I am the son of Howard and the late Lovie Bates and I have seven siblings.  My family has molded me into the person that I am today.  The best job I have ever had is being a father.  It is the most rewarding job with the least amount of pay.  My wife, Maria, is the light of my life.  We have been married since 1992 and I'm looking forward to a lifetime.
I have been with Humana Choicecare for 28 years in many roles.  My current position is Medicare sales rep.  I really enjoy this position because it is rewarding working with the senior community.
My hobbies and interests are golf, cornhole and most outdoor sports.  The main thing I want you to take away about me is that I am dedicate to my heavenly Father, blessed with an earthy family, and I look forward to serving my church and the community at large.
